CRASH…thank goodness he had his armour on!
Last night was a scare! Sam after racing did a few laps while we cleaned up. Just as we were getting ready to leave, and I said the ever famous…’last lap’, down he went! Now I didn’t see the fall, but from what I was told, he over did a ‘manual’ rear wheelie and ended smack down on his back. He was able to get up, but then collapsed and at first wasn’t moving!! After a little bit of time ( but felt like a lot longer) he was able to wiggle his legs and arms, however he was in too much pain to get himself up.
So we ended up calling an ambulance just to be safe. How thankful I am that we live close to The Stollery, the paramedics were fantastic and the ER Pediatric team was too. After they confirmed that his neck and spine were ok, and no CT scan was required, we had back x-rays done. Fortunately everything was ok!! The remedy for him was ibuprofen and a heating pad on his back (and a few days rest from riding).
So thankful for the safety gear, without it could have been worse, and so great full he bounced back the following morning… sore but his happy cheerful self!
