What equipment do you need to start riding?
OK – you have taken the plunge and want to RIDE…or even yet want to Race, below is a list of the basic equipment that you will require to ride on the track.
1) Full face helmet with chin strap that has sufficient padding, and the proper fit for you (DOT approved)
2) Full finger gloves
3) BMX Race Bike
At my home track St.Albert BMX we do have limited items of the above that can be signed out on a first come first serve basis. Any items that are rented out or borrowed, can be done for the evening only, all pieces must be returned to the motto shed at the end of your riding session.
Clothing:
1) Long sleeve shirt that can be pulled down to your wrists
2) Long pants, tear resistant is preferred, to protect your skin from any falls, and pedal injuries
3) Closed toe shoes – a runner or skate shoe, no open toe shoes: sandals, crocs or boots
You may also want additional safety gear, a chest protector (body armour suit aka pressure suit) , elbow pads, shin and knee are acceptable, but it is not required.
